Step Back in Time at the 1876 Historic Inn
Built in 1876, our inn has been a cherished part of the Orange City community for nearly 150 years. Originally known as the DeYarman Hotel, it was lovingly operated by Sophia and Hugh DeYarman. Sophia was renowned for her exceptional hospitality, earning a reputation for serving memorable meals and warmly welcoming guests from near and far.
Even before the DeYarman family arrived, the property was touched by another remarkable woman—Arabella Joscelyn. She cared for the workers constructing the hotel, including her husband. After settling in Orange City, Arabella was tragically widowed, but her husband’s untimely passing did not diminish her resolve. She went on to secure her own land patent independently before remarrying, becoming one of the few women recognized as a landowner during the earliest days of the area’s development.
From its original architectural details to the stories shared by generations of travelers and locals, every corner of the inn carries a piece of living history.
